Flying with a Pet

A seat for your dog or cat must be booked separately from your ticket. Here you’ll find everything you need to know: cabin or cargo hold, required documents, airlines that allow pets, and the type of carrier required at check-in. We’ll take care of the rest for your flight.

  • Pet's place confirmed before the ticket is issued
  • Any route, any airline

Cabin
Generally, up to 8 kg—pet plus carrier—under the front seat.
Hold
IATA-approved rigid carrier with a pressurized compartment. Certain aircraft and breeds are excluded.
Documents
Microchip, rabies vaccine, and passport or veterinary certificate. Some countries also require an antibody titer test.

The rules depend on the airline, the aircraft, and the destination country. We confirm the pet's seat before issuing the ticket.

How to Measure the Horse Stall

Measure the animal while it is standing, then apply the IATA formula. The result is the minimum interior size of the crate.

ABDCC × 2A + ½ BD
  • ALength, from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail
  • BHeight from the ground to the elbow
  • CShoulder width
  • DHeight while standing, measured to the tips of the ears
Length
A + ½ B
Width
C × 2
Height
D

This measurement is the minimum. Add a few centimeters: a cage that is exactly this size will be refused at check-in.

What documents you need

The list depends on where you're coming from and where you're going, not just on the airline. The three most common situations:

05

How to Reserve a Seat

For most companies, the option to bring a pet is not available on the ticket form. There are few seats available on the flight.

  1. 01

    The animal's route and details

Please tell us the origin, destination, species, breed, weight including the carrier, and whether the vaccination has already been administered.

  2. 02

    In-flight inspection

We are looking for a company that allows pets on every leg of the flight, including layovers. Wizz Air and Ryanair do not allow regular pets.

  3. 03

    Seat Confirmation

Ask the company for a PETC or AVIH. The passenger's ticket is issued after approval, so you don't end up with a ticket you can't use.

  4. 04

    Documents and Check-In

You will receive the list for your route and check-in instructions: check-in counter, weigh-in area, and cage inspection.

06

The Six Guides

We don't cram everything onto a single page. Each subpage addresses a specific decision: where the animal will stay, what documents are required, and which airline accepts the route.

Look up the flight, then let us know about the pet

The form below is for your ticket. We will confirm your pet's seat separately, on the same flight.

Short Questions

  • Can I buy my ticket online and check in my pet at the airport?

No. Space for pets is limited and must be confirmed by the airline. Without confirmation, your pet will be refused at check-in, even if you have a ticket.

  • Do Wizz Air or Ryanair allow dogs in the cabin?

No, except for certified service dogs on eligible routes. For a regular dog or cat, we’ll look for another carrier.

  • How long does it take to prepare the documents?

Within the EU, if your pet has a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and a passport, all that's left is confirming the pet's place on the flight. From outside the EU, if the titer test hasn't been done: vaccination, at least 30 days, blood sample, then about 90 days before entry.
