Sanur

Sanur is the east side of the south: a long promenade, sunrise over the water, less nightlife than the west. It is the classic family base and the practical overnight before Nusa Penida.

From DPS it is often 30–50 minutes, more predictable than Canggu. Three to five nights; if you do Penida, book the Sanur boat a day ahead in season.

The reef keeps the water calmer for easy swimming. It is not a surf town. Promenade restaurants are convenient, not always cheap.

Ubud is a feasible day trip if you leave early. Crossing to Canggu means crossing the south — leave time.
