Amed
Diving & snorkeling
Quiet east, diving and snorkelling, Agung views — far from the busy south.

Amed is a string of villages on the north-east coast, with reef close to shore and a fishing-village pace. You come for the water, not beach clubs.
From DPS it is 3–4 hours; from Ubud, 2–3. Two to four nights after Ubud, before you swing back south toward the airport.
Diving and snorkelling are the reason (USAT Liberty wreck is nearby in Tulamben). Beaches are pebble or dark sand, not lagoon postcards.
Evenings are low-key and restaurants close early. It is not a base for seeing “all of Bali” — it is a water destination.
